Our Prep Transition Program consists of a number of events held within our school and community. These include a meet and greet morning tea, a fun play afternoon tea, visits to our local kindys and school Tours.
Step into Prep Program our 4-week transition program is designed to help our future Prep students build confidence and become familiar with school life before their first day of school. Across four one-hour sessions, children will have the opportunity to explore their new learning environment, meet staff and classmates, and enjoy positive experiences that make the transition to 'big school' exciting and enjoyable.

The program also provides a wonderful opportunity for parents and carers to connect with other families and become part of our school community.
In addition, families are invited to attend our Orientation Morning on 17 November at 9am, where you will have the opportunity to meet key staff, learn about school routines and processes, purchase uniforms, and receive important information to help your child have a smooth and successful start to Prep.

How does Prep help my child in Year 1?
The compulsory Prep year is now recognised as the first formal year of school. At Tewantin State School, Prep provides an important foundation for future successful schooling.

When Can My Child Attend School?
Prep is the first year of school and provides the foundation for your child's education. It is compulsory for Queensland children to undertake Prep prior to Year 1. Prep is a full-time program in primary schools and has a defined curriculum. Children attend Monday to Friday, generally from 9am to 3pm.
Children must be 5 by 30 June in the year they enrol.
